It took a considerable amount of work to produce this map. I needed to create a table with the percentages of population change within each region and then calculate the intervals for the equal interval class. I manually changed the legend in Adobe Illustrator and created a gray scale to match the legend with each region. The area of highest percent change created another challenge due to the dark gray obscuring the boundary lines of the states. I lightened the lines so they would be visible.
